1. What are As-Built Drawings and why do I need them?
As-built drawings (or "record drawings") are a precise set of plans that show the exact, current condition of a building, as it stands today. Original plans are often outdated or unavailable. As-builts are the essential, accurate starting point you must have for any professional renovation, addition, council submission, or accurate property valuation.
2. What is your process for creating As-Built drawings?
Our process is built on precision. For standard properties, we conduct a thorough on-site survey. For complex, large-scale, or heritage sites, we use LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). This 3D laser-scanning technology captures millions of precise data points, creating a digital "point cloud" of the building, ensuring millimetre-level accuracy.
3. What is the advantage of LIDAR scanning over traditional measuring?
LIDAR is far superior in three ways:

Speed: It captures an entire building, inside and out, in a fraction of the time.

Accuracy: It is millimetre-precise and captures everything, including complex curves, surfaces, and fine details that are impossible to measure by hand.

Completeness: It provides a complete 3D digital model, which is invaluable for complex design, structural analysis, and coordinating with engineers.
4. Why hire A4AC for this, and not just a drafting service?

5. What do I receive at the end of the process?
You will receive a complete set of professional architectural drawings in both PDF and digital CAD formats (e.g., .dwg). If your project involves LIDAR scanning, we can also provide the raw 3D "point cloud" data or a fully-built 3D model (e.g., Revit or ArchiCAD) for your entire project team to use.
